The Problem: Why Do Molds Often \u201cMisbehave\u201d After Transfer?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mold is finished, shipped, and arrives at the customer\u2018s factory. Then the team puts it on the machine \u2014 and problems show up:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ejection is not smooth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cooling connections don\u2019t match<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The mold doesn\u2018t fit the platen size<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Does this mean the mold was made poorly? Not necessarily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More often, the issue is that the&nbsp;<strong>mold structure, interface dimensions, and assembly logic were not fully aligned between both engineering teams<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is especially true for&nbsp;<strong>mold transfer projects<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 where the mold moves from Factory A to Factory B, onto a different injection machine, into a different operating environment. Any detail that was not clearly communicated can lead to production delays, repeated trials, and even mold rework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, delivering a mold is not just \u201cshipping a block of steel.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"2-our-approach-make-drawing-review-a-standard-sop\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Our Approach: Make Drawing Review a Standard SOP<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At RiLong, drawing review is not an optional step. It is a&nbsp;<strong>mandatory standard operating procedure (SOP)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the DFM stage, we go through every detail with the customer\u2018s engineering team:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Is the parting line location reasonable?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Does the ejector layout match the customer\u2019s injection machine?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What is the specification of the cooling line connections?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is the overall mold size within the customer\u2018s machine limits?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These questions are not asked after the mold is finished. They are confirmed&nbsp;<strong>before tooling starts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"3-drawings-the-only-language-that-never-needs-translation\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Drawings: The Only Language That Never Needs Translation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have worked with engineering teams from many countries \u2014 Germany, France, the United States, India, Japan\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Different languages. Different time zones. But one thing is always the same:&nbsp;<strong>drawings are everyone\u2018s common language<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One clearly dimensioned assembly drawing says more than ten emails. A complete drawing package \u2014 assembly drawing, component drawings, BOM, cooling layout, ejection layout \u2014 allows the customer\u2019s engineering team to understand the mold structure&nbsp;<strong>before the mold even arrives<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The mold hasn\u2018t arrived yet, but they already know how to run it.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"4-a-complete-mold-delivery-is-more-than-steel\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. A Complete Mold Delivery Is More Than Steel<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We believe a complete mold delivery has three layers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><thead><tr><th class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">Layer<\/th><th class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">What it includes<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Physical delivery<\/strong><\/td><td>Mold body, spare parts, wear parts<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Documentation delivery<\/strong><\/td><td>Full drawings, BOM, material certificates, heat treatment reports<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Technical delivery<\/strong><\/td><td>DFM report, mold flow analysis, trial parameters, full communication between engineering teams<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The third layer is the most often overlooked \u2014 but it is also the most important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Because only when both engineering teams fully understand the mold can it be 100% compatible on the customer\u2018s machine and run smoothly.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"5-our-strength-we-speak-the-language-of-engineers-wherever-they-are\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Our Strength: We Speak the Language of Engineers, Wherever They Are<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is not just a slogan. From overall mold dimensions, ejector layout, cooling connections, to the BOM \u2014 everything is clearly documented. The customer\u2018s engineering team had already prepared their machine before the mold arrived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"7-the-goal-is-not-ship-the-mold-it-is-run-production-smoothly\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">7. The Goal Is Not \u201cShip the Mold\u201d \u2014 It Is \u201cRun Production Smoothly\u201d<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shipping the mold is not the finish line.&nbsp;<strong>Running smoothly on the customer\u2019s machine is.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What we want to deliver is not just a mold.
