This isn’t just a finish; it’s a performance-enhancing armor:
✔ Exceptional Wear Resistance: The hard anodized layer (Type III) provides superior surface hardness, significantly outperforming standard anodizing.
✔ Superior Corrosion Protection: Built to withstand harsh environments, ensuring long-term reliability.
✔ Professional Aesthetic: The deep, uniform black dye (Class 2) offers a premium, non-reflective finish perfect for high-end applications.
✔ Built to Last: This combination guarantees a part that looks as good as it performs, year after year.
What is Type III, Class 2?
- Type III (Hard Coat): This process creates an exceptionally thick, hard, and durable oxide layer on the aluminum surface. It is significantly more robust than standard anodizing (Type II).
- Class 2 (Dyed): This indicates the hard coat layer is impregnated with a dye—in this case, a deep, non-reflective black.
Combining these creates a finish that is both incredibly tough and professionally appealing.

Our Proven Solution
In a recent project, we precision-machined a critical component from AL6082-T651 aluminum and applied the MIL-A-8625 Type III, Class 2 Black Hard Coat. The result is a part that excels in both dimensional accuracy and long-term surface performance, ready to withstand the most challenging operational conditions.
